| Hoshen Art Therapy Center – Neve Tzuf
The newly established Hoshen Art
Therapy Center aims to provide professional
aid for adults and children,
including victims of the on-going Intifada, suffering
post-trauma emotional stress. Treatment
is provided in groups and private sessions
for those referred by school psychologists
and advisors, as well as those who turn to the Center privately. Hoshen is staffed by
psychologists, social workers and Early Education specialists who have become
proficient in the Expressive Arts as a therapeutic skill.
Our partners in this project include the
Dept. of Social Services and Dept. of
Psychological Services of the Regional Council of Binyamin.
Plans for future development include:
A mobile staff of therapists who
will travel to individuals and groups
throughout the Binyamin Region; extending the Center in order to provide therapeutic services using facilities
and professional services available
in Neve Tzuf, e.g., the
swimming pool for hydrotherapy, the
horse stable for animal therapy,
and occupational therapy currently
available through the school. |
Who can benefit from Hoshen?
Children, youth and adults, suffering from
impairment of daily functioning.
What actually takes place in a
session at Hoshen?
Under close professional supervision, the
participants are encouraged to create through
drawing and clay modeling, or to express themselves
through music, dance, or role-modeling. Discussion
follows, allowing for the expression of feelings during the
experience and application to real life situations.
Why use various forms of art for therapy?
The use of art forms, including drawing, music,
movement and drama provides for significant and
constructive experiences, which call forth the inner strengths in
each individual. The therapy helps improve self-image, resilience and
the ability to deal with change. |
